Lord Shiva loves ablution ( Evening of 9/06/06) Lord Shiva loves ablution (abhisheka), which seems in consonance with his personality as the Supreme Ascetic or Mahayogi. And at Pradosha duration Lord Shiva is said to dance his "Anandha Tandavam" , the divine Dance of Joy and happiness that keeps the Universe going.

Pradosham in Nepal

As we were returning from Mahakamna temple we realised that we may not reach Kathmandu before 8.00 PM. So, the Pashupathinath temple at Kathmandu would be closed by the time.

We sought the help of our bus driver to stop at any Shiva Temple on the way, to enable our group to perform Pradosha puja.

The pet bottles became handy as we drew water for the abhishekam. Swamiji in our group performed the abhishekam as the group sang shiva bhajans and stotrams. Bilva leaves were found with our driver.

To cap it all for the Naivedyam (offering of food) we found Cadbury's chocolates which were distributed to the Children who had gathered on seeing us.

The most revered yatra (Pilgrimage) to the highest, holiest site in the world -- Holy Manasarover and Mount Kailash. While journeying from Nyalam to Saga could enjoy the beautiful Himalayas.

And the rugged and dusty roads. Its safe to wear mouth and nose masks to cover from the dust and the chilly weather.

The breathing becomes difficult because of the high altitudes and the speedy winds. One would not like to get down from the vehicle for the fear of catching cold.

The day is spent traveling, listening to music, enjoying the remoteness, watching the nomads and the animals and at times the beautiful creeks and the glaziers.

North Face of Kailash

There is no mountain like the Himalayas for on it are Kailash and Mansarovar.

The journey through the Himalayas  towards Kailash and Manasarover where everything is a deserted forest lets one feel the inner self.

The loneliness one experiences through the drive is worth every minute.

It is advisable to carry a moviecam and some good music CDs with you to overcome the boredom during the journey.

It has been about 2 years since I travelled last. Planning to go again. Join me if you feel good. We start on a 20 days trip on July 8th 2008

Over the centuries pilgrims have journeyed through to Kailash to achieve enlightenment or cleanse themselves of sin by taking a  dip in the holy Manasarover Lake and doing the Holy Parikrama (Kora) of Mt. Kailash, braving enormous distances and particularly harsh weather and anxieties.

The rugged terrain trekking of Kailash Mansarovar is a different experience which cannot be explained in words. One has to go through that sacred experience.

For the Hindus Mount Kailash is the earthly manifestation of Mt. Meru, their spiritual centre of the universe, described as a fanatastic world pillar 84,000 miles high, around which all else revolves, its roots in the lowest hell and its summit kissing the heavens. On the top lives their most revered God, Shiva, and his consort Parvati.
Manasarover can destroy one's sins... A believing dip can cleanse the "Papams" of a full "Janma" .
Kailash Manasarover is an experience that will be cherished throughout one's life. I do not know if there would be another chance.......

A yatra to the Holy Manasarover Lake in Tibet and the Parikrama of the Majetic Kailash Mountain is an experience of a lifetime

A group of about 30 people assembled at the Delhi airport on 8th June 2006 to Board the Indian Airlines flight to Kathmandu scheduled to depart at 2.30 PM. They would join the other members of the group who had earlier travelled by Jet Airways. The purpose of the group was to undertake the Holy Kailash - Manasarover yatra situated in the Chinese occupied Tibet.

Little did this group of people at Delhi airport expect that the next 17 days of their lives would have so much of excitements, thrills, suspense, pleasures and at the end of it all a sense of fulfillment.

At about 2.45 PM came the announcement asking the Passangers bound for Kathmandu by Indian Airlines Flight to pass through Security to Board the flight.

As Sankaran, who is associated with
KBS Consultants accompanied by his wife Jayashree Sankaran got up to Board the flight, there was another announcement
