The Labrador Retriever (also Labrador, Labby or Lab for short), is one of several kinds of retriever, a type of gun dog. The Labrador is considered the most popular breed of dog (by registered ownership) in the world, and is by a large margin the most popular breed by registration in the United States (since 1991) the United Kingdom, Poland, and several other countries.

It is also the most popular breed of assistance dog in the United States, Australia, and many other countries, as well as being widely used by police and other official bodies for their detection and working abilities.

They are exceptionally affable, gentle, intelligent, energetic and good natured, making them both excellent companions and working dogs.

Although somewhat boisterous if untrained, Labrador Retrievers respond well to praise and positive attention, and are considerably "food and fun" oriented. These dogs are as well loyal and great with little children. They may be used in shows. With training, the Lab is one of the most dependable, obedient and multi-talented breeds in the world

Although somewhat boisterous if untrained, Labrador Retrievers respond well to praise and positive attention, and are considerably "food and fun" oriented. These dogs are as well loyal and great with little children. They may be used in shows. With training, the Lab is one of the most dependable, obedient and multi-talented breeds in the world.

Although the Lab is the epitome of family dogs, he needs a fairly active household to satisfy his need for exercise and work. Daily walks, romps in a fenced yard, and games of fetch keep his mind and body in shape. Unless these needs are satisfied, the Lab may become a wanderer, a digger, or a chewer.

Remember all puppy training must be short at first, A puppy's concentration span is only a few minutes. Rewards and kindness always work better than fear. Simple activities such as sitting and knowing their name and retrieving are best to start with. A well-trained Labrador is a happy one, and you might find you get the taste for obedience work and competitions in agility.

First off, the new Lab puppy should be leash trained and taught to sit on command to prevent his jumping on people in his desire to say hello. The pup can also be taught early to shake paws and to fetch; his soft mouth and innate desire to retrieve can provide hours of play. Later on, the pup can learn to put his nose to use and find things that have been hidden for him.

2months old Lucy

When my son brought this dog home from his friend Ashwin I was initially hesitant to allow him to have this pet. It was a rainy day and she was shivering outside.

My wife liked dogs but I had never known dogs.

But my son had very boldly taken the decision of bringing the dog home when I was away.

This lab was so cute that when I saw her the next day morning I changed my mind and said ok but that that he should take care of her needs.

My wife named her Lucy, saying that Lucy means light in Latin and rightly so she brought light, luck and harmony into the house. Now things have changed so much that my life is centered around Lucy.

She is "Chutti" and a very affectionate. She loves to come with me to my office and be there while I do my work.

Now she is being trained by a professional trainer Satish.

After 1 and half years, I could see a jananam (Birth) in the form 11 babies of my Lucy.
One thing i learnt that, it didn't intake anything till it was ease, i tried to provide all stuff's but it went in vain. As i could see a caring mother in lucy's behaviour.
